GSA President

Aashish Kumar is a dedicated student leader and data science professional committed to advancing higher education and student advocacy. As the elected President of the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) at the University of Alberta, he represents and supports the diverse graduate student body, working to enhance academic experiences, financial accessibility, and student well-being.

Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Mathematical & Statistical Sciences, Aashish specializes in data modeling and predictive analytics. His academic journey, combined with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Mathematics with a Minor in Finance, has equipped him with a strong analytical skill set.

Beyond academics, Aashish has held various leadership and professional roles, including serving as an Actuarial Trainee at SHMA Consulting, a Research Analyst at UNICEF, and a Procurement & Contracting Intern at the U.S. Department of State. His work has focused on data-driven decision-making, financial analysis, and process optimization.

Aashish is passionate about student engagement, institutional governance, and fostering an inclusive academic environment. His leadership aims to strengthen collaboration between students, faculty, and policymakers to promote innovation and excellence at the University of Alberta.
