Saad Iqbal
Saad is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Human Geography, Faculty of Science. Saad’s previous education includes a Master of Education (UofA), a Master of Architecture, and a Bachelor of Architecture. With over eight years of student leadership experience, coupled with his academic and research background, he brings strong insights to help fellow graduate students navigate their academic and social journeys.
For the last two and a half years at the U of A, he has worked as a student leader in various capacities which has allowed him to identify and understand a wide array of issues that are faced by our student communities. During this time, he has spearheaded workshops and events focusing on Mental Health and Wellness, Cultural Differences in Communication, Utilizing Library Resources and Search Strategies. In addition, he has also helped with organizing events focusing on cultural aspects for international students, socialization, and engagement sessions, as well as strong advocacy against tuition fee increases, better housing affordability, tackling food insecurity, improved financial aid, and academic and other needs of domestic and international students.
