Strategic Workplan

Each spring the GSA student executives work with the GSA Board to produce a Strategic Work Plan (SWP). The SWP is the document that steers and prioritizes the work and initiatives of the GSA. The GSA sees this as a living document, shifting directions as needed as the provincial, federal, and University landscapes change. It is developed annually with reference to the Strategic Work Plans of previous GSA Boards, and provides a planning document for this and future years. The SWP reflects the GSA's vision and mission to advocate for all graduate students to the University of Alberta and the Alberta Government for a safe, supportive, respectful, accessible, and inclusive community that fosters the multi-faceted roles played by graduate students.

SWP 2026-2027

The Strategic Work Plan (SWP) is the Graduate Students’ Association’s roadmap for the year. It outlines the priorities the 2026–2027 Board has committed to advancing on behalf of graduate students and guides the GSA’s advocacy, decision-making, and accountability throughout its term.

Developed through graduate student feedback, GSA Council consultations, community engagement, and Board discussions, the SWP focuses on six strategic priorities where the GSA can make the greatest impact. While it does not capture every initiative undertaken by the GSA, it reflects the Board’s key commitments to improving the graduate student experience at the University of Alberta.
