With the province-wide strike by public school support staff beginning on Monday, October 6, the GSA recognizes that many graduate students with school-aged children may face additional pressures.

Below is a list of resources available through the GSA, the University of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta, as well as community supports to help graduate student-parents navigate this period.

  1. GSA Supports for Graduate Student-Parents

Feeding and Care Space – Triffo Hall (Main Floor)

  • Located next to a water station and restrooms with changing tables
  • Limited toys available from the GSA Front Desk (must be returned after use)
⚠️ Some toys may pose choking hazards; children must be supervised at all times
  • Triffo Hall requires ONEcard access after 4:30 PM
  • Important: The GSA does not provide child care; children must always remain with a parent, guardian, or chaperone
