Bargaining Updates

The GSA has been preparing for negotiations for the next Graduate Student Assistantship Collective Agreement (CA for short) over the summer, with the CA set to expire in August 2024. Updates will be posted throughout the fall.
Message from the Labour Committee as of December 2024

Dear GSA members,

The GSA Union bargaining team commenced negotiations with the University Administration for a new collective agreement on December 3-4. Our bargaining team tabled a non-monetary proposal’s package that included several discussion items. The University also tabled a package that predominantly contained clarifications and housekeeping items. The parties had good discussions and provided the needed clarifications of their respective proposals.

The Parties agreed to resume negotiations on March 10-12 and continue April 22-23. Over the next few weeks, your bargaining team will prepare the monetary proposals for tabling with the University at upcoming sessions.

Once we begin to discuss more substantive matters, there will be more details to brief you on. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact anyone of your bargaining team members.

In solidarity,
Muneeb Masood Raja
Sara Jalili
Corbin Cammidge

The 2022-2024 CA was ratified by Academically-Employed Graduate Students (AEGS) in November 2022 and by the University Board of Governors in December 2022, and came into effect on 1 January 2023.

Below you may find some of the updates provided by the GSA Negotiating Team (composed of three current members of the GSA Labour Relations Committee) during the negotiation process for the current CA.
