VP External
Bio
Specialist born in Lagos, Nigeria. I attended the University of Ibadan and studied Political
Science while leading and founding different student organizations. I moved on to the
United States of America to work as an African Associate for several Think-Tanks. I took
my Master’s degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa. I
returned to Nigeria to work with the Policy Innovation Center of the Nigerian Economic
Summit Group as the in-house Governance Specialist. I am currently doing my PhD in
Educational Policy because I believe that the destinies of countries are tied to the
quality of their education systems.
Resume
I am running for the position of GSA VP External because I believe I can leverage my
professional experience as a Governance Specialist and experience in Non-Profit
Management, Public Relations and Advocacy and my scholarly interest in educational
policies. I have been involved with the GSA as a regular attendee of GSA Council, and I
have volunteered in several university-wide initiatives such as the review of strategic
plans. I believe my experiences would help me in the role as an advocate of GSA
members to external stakeholders both on campus, nationally and internationally.
Winter is coming, and we should be prepared.
Bio
I am Parman Mojir Shaibani, a third-year Ph.D. student in the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department. My research focuses on advanced thin film deposition using the Atomic Layer Deposition method. During my previous studies in Iran, I held two marketing positions at different branding companies, significantly boosting my socialization and problem-solving skills. I also gained valuable leadership qualities as an English Discussion Class head. As I was a victim of unfair circumstances before in my years of study, I completely understand the problems that students face. These problems include but are not limited to, financial difficulties, accommodation challenges, high tuition fees, cultural adjustment, language barriers, and access to essential resources. Rest assured, I am deeply committed to supporting my peers and will listen to their concerns, offering my help to those in need.
